Commuter Benefits

Administered by Anthem

Save on commuting expenses with commuter benefits. When you open a commuter account, you authorize a pretax deduction from your pay for transit, parking, and vanpooling expenses.

For 2024, the IRS limits pretax contributions for transit and vanpooling to $315 per month; parking contributions are also limited to $315 per month.

Eligible Commuter Benefit expenses include:

  • Mass transit: Transit passes, tokens, fare cards, tickets, or similar items for mass transit to and from work, including bus, rail, and ferry.

  • Parking: Parking expenses incurred at or near work, or at a location from which you commute to work by carpool, vanpool, or mass transit.

  • Vanpool: Vanpooling requires a commuter highway vehicle that seats at least seven people, including the driver. This is not the same as carpooling. At least 80% of the vehicle mileage must be for transporting you between work and home.
